Mercedes W202 Tuning Background
Mercedes introduced the C-Class during 1993 to replace the aging 190. The sporty image of the range eventually gave rise to a competition version in the DTM - German Touring Car Championship - Mercedes W202 Tuning at extreme.
In 1995 introduced supercharged C 230 Kompressor, producing approx 190hp. The first real tuned version of the W202 came in the form of the C36 AMG - featuring a race tuned suspension and a 3.6L engine producing 276hp. The engine was restricted to produce a top speed of 155 mph. This electronic limit can be removed through chip tuning.
In 1997 Mercedes face-lifted the C-Class W202 - making changes to the bumpers, lights and interior trip. 1998 saw the introduction of the AMG C43 version of the Mercedes W202. The highly tuned 4.3 L V8 could now achieve 302 hp at 5850 rpm. Production of the Mercedes W202 ceased in early 2000 and the was replaced by the W203.
